Show Information
WASHINGTON, DC - The Gay News Network, Inc., gay news from the nation's capital, announces the release of a very special episode that captures the spirit of the recent Millennium March on Washington
for GLBT civil rights. GNN's Holly Landau, goes backstage for the Equality Rocks pre-concert press conference and talks with k.d. Lang, Kristen Thomas of Third Rock from the Sun, and Nathan Lane. Melissa Etheridge and Garth Brooks also
comment on the struggle for civil rights. During the historic Equality Rocks concert, GNN shines the spotlight on performances by Rufus Wainright, Chaka Kahn, K.D. Lang, Melissa Etheridge, the Pet Shop Boys and the sold-out RFK stadium full
of fans rocking for equality. Also see the sights and sounds surrounding the Millennium March. First, GNN stops by a protest of the military's 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy
held by gay and lesbian veterans in front of the Pentagon. Then, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, gay and lesbian couples exchanging commitment vows at a gay wedding ceremony
officiated by Reverend Troy Perry and Minister Jimmy Creech. Plus, GNN wanders through the first ever, two day, gay and lesbian street festival held on Pennsylvania Avenue
as people ate and drank while listening to the delightful music of Grace Jones and many local performers. At the March site on the mall, baseball player Billy Bean and actor Wilson Cruz speak from the main stage. Behind stage, Landau
interviews Betty Degeneres and then treks around the mall to talk with the straight parents of a gay child and with four straight children of a gay dad on why they wore matching T-shirts to support him.
