News summaries include breast cancer rates in lesbians, partner benefits in Paris, gay bashings on the increase following candle light vigils for Matthew Shepard, and Susan Sarandon to produce a movie based on the book "Prayers for Bobby." Then GNN's cameras take viewers to a Linda Tripp look-a-like contest held at JR's Bar and Grille in Washington, DC where the most treacherous Tripp won an open bar tab and a new wig brush!

The Gay News Network also salutes the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA). GNN partnered with NLGJA to provide a unique experience for young journalists students from across the country to learn about their field from gay and lesbian mentors.

In the Washington Report segment, taped at NLGJA's 7th annual convention in Las Vegas, reporter Phil Kahn sits poolside with Virginia Apuzzo, Assistant to the U.S. President, Office of Operations and Management, the White House. Apuzzo is the highest-ranking openly lesbian official in the Clinton administration. Phil asks her about her involvement in the fight for equality for gays and lesbians over the past 30 years.

In the Gay Agenda public affairs segment, the dramatic increase in broadcast news coverage of sex in public places during ratings sweeps is the issue du jour. Keith Griffith creator of the popular CrusiingForSex.Com web site is also featured. Then, reporter Eileen Smith sits down with the 18 year U.S. Navy veteran, Master Chief Timothy McVeigh - Retired, who was discharged by the Navy on the basis of his America Online profile and disclosure of his identity by an AOL service representative. McVeigh finally reveals his true sexual orientation at the NLGJA convention.

Then, in a GNN exclusive interview, Lesley Stahl of CBS "60 Minutes"urges gay and lesbian journalists to come out in newsrooms across America. Lesley talked with reporter Shirley Zilbersteinwho was on hand at the 7th annual NLGJA convention telling her she believes her colleagues will "be much happier." Finally we close out this show and the Las Vegas convention with comedian Bob Smith who provides slots of laughs during the show's closing credits.
