Field Reporter Leadership Committee Director of Communications
Bob started with the Gay News Network in the summer of 1996 as a field assignment reporter profiling such figures as Ed Alwood, the author of
Straight News, and Phil Donahue. Bob got to talk with Donahue while on location during an awards ceremony at the National Press Club and considers it to be the interview of a lifetime.
Although Bob is most comfortable in front of the camera, he has also written and produced a segment on the AIDS memorial quilt during its last display in Washington DC. Bob
pursued his interest in hard hitting political stories when he interviewed Mothers Against Jesse Helms In Congress (MAGIC) who's mission it is to defeat Helms in a re-election bid.
Prior to joining the Gay News Network
, Bob co-anchored and reported for Gay Spectrum, a now defunct lesbian and gay news magazine show produced in the same studios where GNNis now taped. He helped develop
and produce Gay Spectrum's political segment, "Voices on the Hill," in which he interviewed members of various Washington DC gay and lesbian associations involved in public policy. Additionally, Bob now lends his
talent as on air personality, conducting first-person interviews for "HIV-TV," which is also produced at FCAC studios.
Bob has a BA in English from Colgate University. His community
involvement includes participation in the outreach efforts of Whitman-Walker Clinic. He lives in Arlington, VA with his partner of four years, Bob Witeck.
