Assistant Director Leadership Committee Vice Chair
Randy started with the Gay News Network as a script writer for GNN and for the volunteer newsletter, Newsreel,
in November of 1995. In the studio, Randy served as production assistant and was quickly promoted to assistant director. Recently, he was appointed vice-chair of the GNN Leadership
Committee. He now produces his own segment, Randy's Rave Reviews, and is involved in most aspects of producing the show from writing to editing and distribution. Randy's involvement in GNN
has also led to many hours of public relations work including writing dozens of press releases and planning and design of the web page.
GNN producer, Bill Corey recently appointed Randy to be a member of
the production committee of "Barney Frankly," a short film on US Representative Barney Frank and the struggle to pass the Employee Non-Discrimination Act.
Outside of his time with GNN
, Randy is the Public Affairs Assistant with Legal and Public Affairs Group at America Online, Inc. Before going to AOL, Randy interned at Fleishman-Hillard, Inc. where he researched ways
of using the World Wide Web to enhance corporate communications for high-tech corporations.
Before moving to Washington, D.C., Randy wrote television scripts and
interned as a production assistant at QED Communications in Pittsburgh, PA. The shows can now be seen on PBS (Jane Nugent's Garden Party) and Fox Kid's (Fox Clubhouse). Randy also wrote articles for the Indiana
Gazette and other local newspapers. During this time he earned a BA in English Writing at the University of Pittsburgh.
