KEVIN HARNEY

Technical Director and Assistant Lighting Director

Kevin helped launch GNN and today remains one of its most active members. Known for his outstanding skills in television production, he was recruited in late 1994 and was among the handful of volunteers who attended the program's first pre-production meeting in the spring of 1995.

Having served as both Technical Director and Assistant Lighting Director, for all studio shoots, Kevin, proudly maintains 100% attendance for all studio tapings. Kevin brings to the Gay News Network a decade of experience from working on several other gay themed shows, also produced at FCAC studios. Before his association with GNN he served as Technical Director, Lighting Director, Sound Director and Sound Crew trainer for "One in 10 People" produced by K. Pearson Brown. Prior to working on that program he was Studio Lighting and Sound Technician for the Washington, DC based gay soap opera "Inside/Outside the Beltway".

Kevin's illustrious career in gay cable television production started with superior dedication and drive with Gay Fairfax which later became Gay spectrum. He was soon asked to be a Camera Operator and worked his way up to Lighting Technician, Lighting Director and Sound Technician. Gaining more experience he soon took on the roles of Sound Editor and, finally, Editor in Chief.

Outside the studio his drive, determination and professionalism continue. Kevin is a Realtor for ERA Five Star Properties located in Reston, Virginia. He is a certified ERA Relocation Specialist, Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Certified Buyer Agent and an Honors Graduate of the National Institute of Real Estate.  Kevin has been selling real estate for over 5 years. Prior to that he had 4 years experience in a Real Estate Settlement Office and 4 years experience in a Real Estate Title Insurance Co. As one of the top ERA agents in the world, Mr. Harney was nominated as the International Rookie of the Year and was Awarded Rookie of the year for his Company. Kevin is an honors graduate of the Top TEAM and Top Gun Training academies with ERA and was runner up as Top Lister and one of the Top Sales Associates for his company.

In Kevin's spare time he enjoy going to movies. He also enjoys such outdoor activities as roller blading, skiing, hiking, swimming and biking. He rarely leaves the country comforts of Northern, Virginia. However, Kevin has been known to venture into the District of Columbia, having, on more than one occasion, attended theGNN Picnic.
